Welcome to Passagium Generale

Hello, and welcome to my blog, Passagium Generale: The Medieval Crusades. The immediate purpose of this blog is to provide my students with a forum to research and discuss the crusades, in both their medieval and modern aspects. The long-range goal of the project is to establish a scholarly, up-to-date discussion forum on all aspects of crusades history, art, literature, and archeology, to name a few fields.

So, welcome again, and look for various postings and discussions in the months to come.

  1. I was doing research on the People's Crusade and found out a lot of interesting stuff. For one, the first crusaders split into two groups! The Germans and some Italians and then the Frenchman. The Germans grew envious of the Frenchman and stumbled into an ambush by the Turks, and the Frenchman grew greedy and did the same. This led them all to the same sad death, but it was greed and the craving for glory that took them there. Pretty bad start to the crusades, don't y'all think?
